Wedding Photography at The Thatched Cottage Restaurant, Sutterton
Photographing weddings at The Thatched Cottage Restaurant in Sutterton, Boston (PE20 2EZ) is always a treat. The venue’s rustic charm, beautiful gardens, and lakeside views give couples a truly romantic setting for their wedding day, and for me as a photographer, it’s a dream canvas to work with.
Capturing Natural Moments in the Gardens
One of the highlights of this venue is its outdoor space. After the wedding breakfast, I took the couple into the gardens and by the water’s edge for portraits. The soft evening light added a golden glow that gave their photos warmth and depth. The natural reeds and trees created a timeless countryside backdrop that perfectly suited their relaxed personalities.
The bridge by the lake is one of my favourite spots at The Thatched Cottage. It frames the couple beautifully and gives an intimate, romantic feel to their portraits.
Relaxed and Candid Portraits
I always encourage couples to take a moment together during the day—away from the busyness—to just enjoy each other’s company. These pauses are when the best, most authentic photographs happen. By the pond, I captured the couple laughing, leaning into one another, and being completely themselves.
These candid moments always tell the story of a wedding day just as much as the formal portraits do.
Storytelling Through Light and Emotion
As the sun dipped lower, the light became richer, creating a more cinematic atmosphere. I used this to frame portraits that felt natural but elegant—images the couple can look back on and relive not just how things looked, but how the day felt.
At The Thatched Cottage, the combination of rustic architecture, landscaped gardens, and soft natural light makes it easy to tell a wedding story in a way that feels timeless.
